Traditional Hand Woven Paintings	Paintings in this category are made from Mudcloth or Korhogo Cloth. A painting on Korhogo Cloth is shown to the left. About Mudcloth: Mudcloth has been used for centuries and is made using an original African process that is passed down through generations. Cotton fabric is hand spun and woven into individual cloth stips. Each strip of cloth is then sewn together. The piece of fabric is then dyed in tea made from Bogalon tree found in Mali, West Africa. The tea acts as a fixative for designs that are hand painted using specially prepared mud. About Korhogo Cloth: Korhogo Cloth is named for the village in Ivory Coast and is made from hand spun cotton. The black figures in these paintings are hand painted with the juice from a native tree. The fabric is then soaked in a natural alcohol solution which turns the design black. This is an ancient art passed down through generations.
Batik Paintings	Batik Paintings from the Ivory Coast Batik Paintings are made by brushing molten wax onto cloth, the cloth is then dyed on all areas not covered by the wax. The wax is then removed and the process repeated over and over again for each color used. In this categoy, you'll find large paintings at small prices. An excellent focal point for any room.
