Constructed Wetland by definition:

"A wetland that has been constructed for the primary purpose of water quality improvement, i.e., treatment of wastewater from confined animal operations, sewage, surface runoff, milkhouse wastewater, silage leachate, mine drainage."

Constructed Wetland Purpose:

"This practice is applied to treat waste waters by the biological and mechanical activities of a constructed wetland."

Conditions Where Practice of Wetland Construction Applies:

"This practice applies where runoff is contaminated by metals, pesticides, nutrients, fertilizers, or animal wastes to levels unacceptable for downstream receiving waters."
