Calculations for Rock / Gallons of Water / Liner

ROCK & GRAVEL CALCULATIONS:
-Quantity of boulders used in the pond (tons) = length x width divided by 65
-Quantity of 1/4 to 3 inch gravel used in the pond (tons)=Tons of boulders used x .45
-Quantity of boulders used in a stream (tons)= 3/4 ton per 10 feet of stream length
-Quantity of 1/4 to 3 inch gravel used in the stream (tons)= 1/2 ton per 10 feet of stream length
-Approximately 3/4 to 1 1/4 tons of boulders to build around the face of your standard BIOFALLS filter
Note: Quantities of stone may differ depending on type of stone used.

The rock and gravel information listed below is intended to be used as source of reference only for Do-It-Yourselfers.

*6' x 8' pond with 10' stream - 3.05 Tons rock, .5 Tons mixed gravel, 1 spillway rock

*6' x 8' pond with waterfall / no stream - 1.75 Tons rock, .5 Tons mixed gravel, 1 spillway rock

*8' x 8' pond with waterfall - 2 Tons rock, .5 Tons mixed gravel, 1 spillway rock

*8' x 11' pond with waterfall / no stream - 3 Tons rock, .5 Tons mixed gravel, 1 spillway rock

*11' x 11' pond with waterfall / no stream - 3.25 Ton rock, .5 Tons mixed gravel, 1 spillway rock

*11' x 16' pond with waterfall / no stream - 5.25 Tons rock, .7 Tons mixed gravel, 1 spillway rock

KEY:
ROCK-
Using a variety of rock sizes is highly recommended for interest and creating a natural pond appearance. Rocks placed next to the pond liner should be smooth and rounded, such as Tennessee River Rock.

GRAVEL-
Mixed gravel is a mix of small and larger gravel rocks. Used in the stream, pond bottom and amongst the rocks which support the pond walls.

SPILLWAY ROCK-
A flat rock, such as flagstone, may be used in the spillway, (waterfall), of the BioFalls Filter, replacing the artificial BioFalls stone that is included in every Aquascape Pro Pond Kit.

ACCENT ROCKS-
Place a few rocks, larger than those in the pond, and/or rock boulders around the outer edges of the pond as part of the landscape. This will give the water feature a very natural and balanced appearance. Rock boulders make a great place to sit, relax and enjoy the water garden.

CALCULATIONS TO APPROXIMATE GALLONS IN A POND
Irregular Pond:
Average length (ft.) x average width (ft.) x average depth (ft.) x 7.48 = total gallons in pond

Calculations to approximate gallons in a stream
Length x Width x .25 x 7.48 = Gallons in a stream

::::

CALCULATING LINER SIZE:
-2 x pond depth + Maximum Pond Length + 1 foot extra = Liner Length
-2 x pond depth + Maximum Pond Width + 1 foot extra = Liner Width
