Explore Lives of Epic and Biblical Heroes for Inspiration

This unique book will spark your spirit and cause you to share the adventures of these timeless Epic Heroes. Ms McClung's true spiritual self is mirrored through the eloquent words she weaves together and shares with us.
Our children are feeling anxious and have questions that need to be addressed. "Dinner Talk for Champions" is a perfect way to launch a dialogue on sensitive subjects that our teens may be pondering.
This book has so many profound truths and lessons, it is better to read it as a devotional book and not all in one day. There needs to be time in between the readings to digest and think aboout these great lessons.
Ms McClung's poem at the beginning is awesome and should touch the hearts of all. Her talent is endless.

What is Really Important in Family Time Together?

Our family just took a vacation to Michigan. It was very nice and we had never been there before. We went to Ludington, which is right on Lake Michigan. At first we were skeptical, because the cottage we were staying in certainly did not have our typical "luxuries". It was very hot when we got there and the heat index had to be well into the 90's. We had no air conditioning. We also had no microwave and no telephone. There was no dishwasher and no T.V.

It is amazing how much more you talk to one another when you aren't distracted. We learned that a fan is a great blessing compared to no fan at all. At first, it was the horror of no air conditioning, but eventually it was the blessing of a fan. We had to warm things up the old fashioned way by heating it on the stove or just eating it cold. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, we discovered the "lodge", a meeting place for the other people staying there, had a microwave and air conditioning, so we played a few games in there. It was still nice family time. We also strolled along the beach and enjoyed Heavenly Father's handywork and watched a beautiful sunset. We have to be very careful that the conveniences of life do not cut us off from what is really important. What are we doing with the time and comfort that technology has created? This vacation certainly caused me to reflect and appreciate the blessed life my family leads.

Teenage Boy Saved by Dinner Hour

One evening Spencer, my seventeen year old son, came home from a play practice asking me if he could go back to the high school and hang out with a few of his friends for awhile. Looking at my watch and assessing the situation I told him he could not do that because dinner was almost ready. I let him go back to the school to tell his friends he couldn’t go with them so they would not wait around for him. I wondered why his friends would want to be hanging around at 5:30 instead of going home to their dinners. I realized they probably didn’t have a dinner to come home to. Their moms wouldn’t be home from work yet.

A few days later Spencer expressed gratitude that I had not let him go back to hang around with his friends. It seems while his friends were aimlessly driving around town, one of them got the idea that it would be fun to toilet paper the local Catholic high school. While doing this, police arrived on the scene, they were caught and were now in courtroom-type trouble with the law. My son was grateful he was not with them. The funny thing is, I probably would have let him go because I knew the boys, but dinner was almost ready.
