"The Cuthberts of Green Gables had decided to adopt an orphan -- a nice sturdy boy to help Matthew with the farm chores." But Matthew returns from the train station with a wide-eyed, red-haired, quite imaginitive little girl. Marilla is immediately faced with the girls dramatic tendencies, starting with the name she wants to be called -- Cordelia -- instead of her real name, Anne Shirley. The second night, Marilla attempts to teach Anne how to pray a proper bed-time prayer. In spite of several other of Anne's unique antics, Matthew and Marilla grow to lover her, and decide to let Anne stay with them, forever and ever! A darling duet acting between Marilla and Anne.
