Little Annie is a poor girl from a poor family. She stumbles upon a Christian meeting where children are singing. She sneaks inside to get warm and hear the singing. A lady befriends her and witnesses to her using the wordless book. Annie accepts Jesus into her heart. At home, Annie tells her mother what happened, and her mother warns her not to tell her father about it. Annie tells him anyway. He is angry and drunk. "Jesus! Don't go getting religious kid!" "But Papa, it's wonderful what Jesus did." "Don't mention that niame again! Do you understand?" When she continues, the father grabs her and beats her terribly. For three days Annie is on the brink of death. Finally, she opens her eyes and talks to her mother. She asks why her daddy beat her, and then asks for the dress she had been wearing and a pair of scissors. She wants to cut a piece off of the blood stained dress, and take it to heaven, so she can show Jesus that she shed blood for Him too.
Terribly tragic and moving! Five characters. A boy, Annie, the Christian lady, the mother and the father.
