Humorous Interp - Diana Is Invited to Tea

Humorous Reading
Humorous Interp
by L.M. Montgomer
a cutting from "Anne of Green Gables"

Anne is always in her own little world, creating, imagining, and just now, decorating her room with maple branches because she is " . . . so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers!" Excitedly, Anne discusses with Marilla her plans to entertain her best friend Diana for tea. She wants everything to be perfect! To add to her excitement, Marilla says that they can dring Raspberry Cordial! A delight that Anne has never had! Quite properly, Diana and Anne greet one another at the door, as Marilla leaves for a while to let the girls enjoy their special "tea time." While Anne continues preparing the food in the kitchen, and Diana sits in the sitting room, Anne begins to tell about the last time she made a cake. "I forgot to put the flour in. I was thinking the loveliest story about and and me, Diana. I thought you were desperately ill with smallpox and everybody deserted you; but I went boldly to your bedside and nursed you back to life. Then I took smallpox and died, and I was buried under those poplar trees in the graveyard and you planted a rosebush by my grave and watered it with you tears." But meanwhile, Diana is drinking several glasses of "raspberry cordil" which is actually current wine. The usual fiasco ensues! Anne is banned from being with Diana. She tries to reconcile, but to no avail. An adorable story, with four female characters and lots of imagination and fun!!
