Declamation-Brutus' Speech from Julius Ceasar
from "Julius Ceasar"
by William Shakespeare
The famous speech given by Brutus after the murder of Julius Ceasar. He explains to the Roman people in eloquent language why he helped to murder Ceasar. "If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Ceasar, this is my answer. Not that I loved Ceasar less, but that I loved Rome more. Had you rather Ceasar were living and die all slaves, than that Ceasar were dead, to live all freemen?" Very powerful speech. It shows Brutus'power of persuasion.
