Juliet and the Nurse
Romeo and Juliet
Act II, Scene V
By William Shakespeare
Juliet waits impatiently for her Nurse to return with news about her secret marriage to Romeo. She's been watching the sun, and is nervous about how long it is taking the Nurse. Finally the Nurse returns, but is tired and worn out. Throughout the piece, Juliet begs Nurse to tell her the news, whether it is good or bad, but the old, tired Nurse just wants to rest. The Nurse begins to tease Juliet by giving her tidbits, or changing the subject. Finally, in a fun way, the Nurse delivers the joyous news. A delightful piece for two girls. A british accent may be added for difficulty, and the Nurse must be played as aging, but motherly.
