Set during the Puritan reign of the great Oliver Cromwell, this is the touching story of a little girl and her loving father. As an officer in the army, her father disobeyed orders but won a huge victory for Cromwell. Yet it is determined that one of the three soldiers who disobeyed must die for their crime. By innocent circumstances and divine intervention, the little girl is brought from the street to come make a choice between three disks. Although she doesn't know it, her choice will determine who will die. By her innocence and honesty, she wins the heart of the great Cromwell, holding him to his unthinking promise to her that what "she commands" he "will obey." She thus saves the life of her beloved father. --Charming, suspenseful, and triumphant! This piece has won several awards at speech meets and competitions.
