About Bob Beattie

Bob has held a variety of leadership positions as
the Chairman of the Hamptons Visitors Council, Senior Vice President of the Southampton Chamber of Commerce, president of the Friends of the East Quogue Library, President of the East End Road & Trail Runners Club, Chairperson of the East Quogue Citizens Advisory Committee for Southampton Town and has served the town and village on various committees.

Bob currently serves on the Transportation Commision of Southampton Town and is hard at work attempting to solve Southamptons traffic and transportation problems.

Bob has 30 years experience in both retail and wholesale management in sporting goods, toys, electronics, school supplies, and music. Locally, he managed Gubbins Running Ahead stores in Southampton and East Hampton and owned and managed StoryTime Toys in Southampton.

Bob founded the East End Road & Trail Running Club 13 years ago, www.eerunner.hamptonsinfo.com, and has held various offices in that organization. He organizes and times over 30 running race events a year for various non profit organizations, including the Southampton Village PBA, and has been an advisor to the race organization committee and timer for Southampton Rotary’s Firecracker 8k, Cancer Care’s Berry Blast 5k, Ellen’s Run and many others. Bob was co-director of Cancer Care’s “A Step Closer to the Cure” walkathon. Bob formed “Fit Results” to time and officiate these events. www.fitresults.com

Bob has written for national and regional running publications and has published "The East End Runner" and a network of websites serving the running community and the Hamptons.
