UltraGlycemX is a pleasant tasting beverage mix formula that provides high-quality protein, carbohydrate, and fat, with the inclusion of specific fibers, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients to nutritionally support insulin and glucose response. UltraGlycemX is free of dairy, lactose, wheat, gluten, egg, yeast, artificial colors, and artificial flavors, and is suitable for inclusion in diets avoiding these substances. UltraGlycemX provides nutrient support to individuals suspected of insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia when combined with a low-glycemic, high-fiber dietary program as provided in the UltraGlycemX Patient Guide.

When blended with water, UltraGlycemX provides a balanced supplement or meal replacement.

* UltraGlycemX contains enhanced levels of vitamin E, biotin, and the minerals vanadium and magnesium that may be needed to support improved insulin responsiveness and action. * UltraGlycemX contains chromium and alpha-lipoic acid, which may support improved insulin-stimulated glucose disposal and tolerance.12,13,14,15 Beneficial effects of supplemental chromium on serum lipids, fasting, and postprandial glucose and insulin, as well as glycated hemoglobin, have been reported.16,17,18

* UltraGlycemX contains a fiber profile designed to nutritionally support insulin and glucose response. High-fiber diets, independent of total carbohydrates, have a salutary effect on blood glucose control and atherogenic lipoproteins.20 In particular, certain soluble fibers have a favorable effect on blood insulin concentrations; they appear to slow gastric emptying and inhibit starch degradation in the upper small intestine.21

* UltraGlycemX contains a unique blend of maltodextrins called AmyloSTAR™, and starches specifically designed to nutritionally support healthy blood glucose and insulin levels. This blend of high-amylose maltodestrin contains a patented low-molecular weight starch fraction that has indicated an ability to moderate blood glucose and insulin levels.22 This fraction is exclusive to UltraBalance Medical Foods. Furthermore, the product contains high-amylose starch, which, as opposed to the more common amylopectin starch, has positive impact on insulin response.29 Long-term consumption of a diet higher in amylose may be of benefit in improving hypertriglyceridemia.24

* UltraGlycemX includes galactomannan from locust bean, which has been shown to act as a hypolipidemic agent and substantially improve both the glycemic and insulinemic responses in subjects with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM).25

* UltraGlycemX is fortified with antioxidant vitamins and minerals that may help reduce free radical generation. Vitamin E, zinc, selenium, and other antioxidant nutrients may help modulate the oxidative stress associated with hyperinsulinemia.26,27,28

* The protein in UltraGlycemX may provide significant nutritional support for insulin and glucose response.31 Additionally, the soy protein included has been shown to improve hyperlipidemias.32
