VascuTone is classified as an Eclectic Botanical formula within the MetaBotanica line of herbal products from Metagenics. This comprehensive formula combines the unique cardiovascular benefits of the popular European herb, hawthorn, with select herbs traditionally used in the Indian system of Ayurveda.

Hawthorn - The herb hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha) is derived from tall shrubs found throughout Europe. The fruits and leaves of hawthorn have had a variety of traditional uses since the Renaissance, while only in the late 1800s did European physicians begin experimenting with it clinically for support of the cardiovascular system.

Today, it is one of the most popular herbs used for promoting circulation and overall cardiovascular function. The main active constituents that have been isolated from hawthorn are flavonoids and procyanidins. VascuTone features a premium extract of hawthorn leaf and flower standardized to supply levels of flavonoids and procyanidins that are consistent with the recommendation of the German Commission E Monograph.

Ayurvedic Herbs - Arjuna bark (Terminalia arjuna) and pushkarmool root (Inula racemosa) have been traditionally used in India to support a healthy cardiovascular system. Preliminary research suggests that these herbs may support healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Arjuna bark is prepared as an 8:1 crude extract to produce a balanced distribution of naturally occurring active constituents, while pushkarmool root is standardized to 2% alantolactones through a proprietary process in India.

Guggul resin is derived from the mukul myrrh tree (Commiphora mukul), a small thorny tree native to Arabia and India. The tree exudes a yellowish gum resin, referred to as "guggul", which is traditionally used int he system of Ayurveda. The active components of guggul, guggulsterones, help to maintain healthy serum lipid profiles, thus influencing healthy cholesterol levels. A standardized extract of guggul resin containing 2.5% guggulsterones is featured in VascuTone.

Coleus root (Coleus forskohlii) has been traditionally used in the practice of ancient Ayurvedic medicine for supporting healthy heart muscle function and blook flow. The main active constituent of coleus, forskolin, is believed to beneficially affect platelet aggregation, thus helping to maintain healthy blood circulation. VascuTone features a premium extract of coleus root standardized to 1.5% forskolin.

5.5:1 Extract (standardized to 1.9-2.3% (7.6-9.2mg) flavonoids calculated as hyperosides and 9.0-15.0% (36-60mg) procyanidins calculated as cyanidinchloride)
Arjuna Bark (Terminalia arjuna) 8:1 Extract 180mg
Coleus Forskohlii Root Extract 180mg
(standardized to 1.5% (2.7mg) forskolin
Pushkarmool Root (Inula racemosa) 120mg
(standardized to 2% (2.4mg) alantolactones
Guggul Resin (Commiphora mukul) 5:1 Extract 120mg
(standardized to 2.5% (3mg) guggulsterones)
