Mans Two Tone "Deco Nude" ruby ring

the top stones in the photos above and  below shows the stones cut from a different piece than the original.... the "white" banding is a part of the ruby and is a selected inclusion... I like it but you may prefer the more solid set.

We are making progress now!

As I mentioned, this isn't an easy task but i believe will be worth the wait.

As you can see, in order to make the ladies, we had to make another wax the same size as the first..

Once the sculpture is roughed out, it is cut off the base and completed before casting.

                      Here are the ladies, one for each side of the ring..(S)

I left this pic dark because this is going to change over the process the face details will come in the final act..     

Once the ladies are cast they are custom fit into the ring. You can see the end caps which will be in white gold as well as the ladies here.

                    Once everything fits perfectly, we cast the ring next

       So now everything fits fine, we proceed with casting the end caps.

Here is the “Latest” ring Carol just finished making. The customer should have it by tomorrow. 

It is two tone (white and yellow) 18k and 14k gold with 3 ruby cabachons. We had the stones specially cut for this job, it took us months to get them cut the way we wanted and we went thought 3 stone cutters and more "rough" than we care to mention..

 But with patience and persistence we got the stones we wanted.

After getting the original "rough" cut and polished to acceptable standards we come across some "new rough". A much nicer grade of ruby. So we have these cut to size.

The ring is composed of 5 individually hand carved pieces (the two nudes, two end pieces and the base)

It weighs 40 grams and was a size 14. This ring can never be resized without taking the entire thing apart.

You are not likely to find a ring like this at even the finest jewelry stores. Nor are you likely to find a jeweler would could or would make one… it has over 80 hours of hand work alone and required 2 separate castings…

the end results explain well the effort.
