What you eat is crucial for weight management. Exercise helps you burn calories and fat; but diet plays a key role in maintaining your weight and body fat percentage. Limit fatty food intake to 20% daily to maintain a healthy diet.
Stomach crunches before you even leave the house in the a.m. can help flatten your abdominal muscles. Start with 25 and add 5 each day until you reach 100!
Bike your way to better fitness. Group cycling classes allow you to train at specific heart rate levels. Whether on an outside bike or a stationary bike, keep up a sustained pace. Adjust your seat correctly so your knees are only minimally bent at the bottom of each pedal stroke/rotation. Use mind/body visualization to really help you and your students work harder.
Motivate your students so they will stay with any form of aerobic training suggested. Have them move their limbs by climbing stairs, walking, dancing, performing household chores and a variety of different class formats. Remind them that any form of movement will burn calories.
To increase your swimming efficiency, count your swim strokes for each length of the pool. This will help you improve your body position and stroke mechanics.
Yoga stretches your large muscle groups to reach deeper into your body. Deep and controlled breathing will help you balance your strength with your flexibility.
To obtain your maximum heart rate, subtract your age from 220. If your exercise activity pushes your heart rate up to 120 or higher for 20 or more minutes, you are working aerobically.
Positive communication is a key reason people train or take your classes. PAY ATTENTION! Really listen to your students' needs and requests. Provide guidance and motivation. Give plenty of praise. KEEP UP YOUR ENTHUSIASM and pass it along to your students!

In the last 18 months , more and more instructors report increased numbers of male participants in group classes, particularly: group weight training, group cycling, kickboxing and stretch classes.
