Von Asgard K-9 Center is a custom all-breed dog boarding and training facility located an hour south of Tampa, FL . . . just inland of the Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida metropolitian area (USA).

DIRECTIONS: Please call 941-322-0705 to make an appointment before you come. We are about 17 minutes east of I-75 on State Road 70. The easy way to locate Von Asgard K-9 Center, when you exit I-75 at Exit #217 East (old exit #41), is to note the odometer mileage and add 18 miles to that figure. Then leisurely drive EAST on State Road 70 until you reach that 18 mile mark. Then look down the road on the left hand (north) side for two large 3' x 5', red and white flags . . .



. . . one flying on each side of our 24 foot wide entrance gates. The red and white flags are visible over 300 yards before you reach our drive. The actual address is: 35571 State Road 70 East. Remember to please call 941-322-0705 in advance for an appointment.

Von Asgard K-9 Center - Home of the acclaimed "Puppy Start Right" Pet Training Program!


Von Asgard K-9 Center offers a wide variety of specialized training programs, such as, AKC competition obedience, tracking and Canine Good Citizen Certificate training, Schutzhund competition (tracking, obedience & protection) training, Personal Protection training, Police K-9 training, as well as, behaviour modification problem solving.

Our "Puppy Start Right" program gets your new dog off on the right foot. Your dog stays at Von Asgard for a minimum of 7 days (most stays are several weeks) while Von Asgard's professionals care for your new dog and create the necessary habits required to be a "good family dog"!

Von Asgard's "Puppy Start Right" Program can achieve the following for you so your new dog will be a most pleasant family experience:

1.) Establish a correct feeding routine.
2.) Develop successful housebreaking proceedures.
3.) Teach the pup to love his special crate, as a child would love a "tree house".
4.) Systematically socialize the pup to various situations & people.
5.) Iniate the foundations of basic puppy good mannors.
6.) Teach the pup to go up & down stairs.
7.) Train him to walk nicely on a leash.


When your dog has graduated from the "Puppy Start Right" program, we have you (and the others in your household) come in for a two hour training session. In the first 45 minutes, we discuss the psychology of the program, the underpinnings and exactly how your dog accomplished each phase. We teach you how to handle the dog in each situation and physically work with you to master the handling techniques. We then bring out your dog and . . . with us doing the handling, show you just how well he readily and snappily he responds.


Our football-sized training field complete with stadium lights for training in the cool of the evening.



Only then do we put you together with your dog and work with you and your dog until the two of you are functioning as a team and correctly doing all the excercises and have established a "leader/follower" relationship with your pup.

We then teach you several routines that you must do with your dog when you get home. These routines, done daily at your home, will transfer the habit of him doing things correctly for us at our location to his doing so correctly for you . . . at your location.

Whatever basic schedule (adapted from your family's actual schedule) that we utilized in his training, will be sent home with you so you can work with him exactly as you learned.
