In 1979, Linda Werlein made the decision to develop a line of hard, working Dobermanns through a systematic breeding program proven through comprehensive character testing. The name chosen by Linda for her new Dobermann breeding kennel was 'von Asgard'. In German mythology, 'Asgard' is the home of the Germanic gods: Odin, Balder, Frey and Thor.

Linda has been competing successfully with her Dobermanns in Schutzhund for over 20 years.

In recent years, she has explored French Ring Sport, KNPV, Service Dog Assiciation (See the SDA web site at: www.PDK-9.com . , Protection Sports Association (PSA). Her disappointment over the many 'Schutzhund' rule changes designed to 'soften' the dogs had prompted her to seek a more chalenging sport venue not controlled in Europe and also to return to the renown, historic and very demanding KNPV (Royal Dutch Police Dog Association) Certification to test the working character of the Working Dobermanns she breeds.

Von Asgard's "B" litter: Baquero von Asgard (Gero v. d. Mooreiche x Xendy v. d. Russheide) . . . as with all 'von Asgard' Dobermanns, impressive in structure with strength of character expressed in an enormus will to work!

Baquero's character was never in question. This photo of 'Buc' made the Front cover of the NARA (North American Ring Assoc.) magazine. In this photo of 'Buc' below, you can see that his structure is equally impressive!

At 16 months, Fenris (owned & trained by Pauline Michels) took 1st. place in his Division (over 11 other entries) in Michigan (USA) at the June, 2003 - K-9 Pro Sports trial. Fenris is now on to French Ring Sport and PSA competition. Congratulations, 'Fen' & Pauline!

Although she and her Dobermanns will occassionally compete in Schutzhund, Linda is now directing her 'von Asgard' kennel breeding program toward the development of a tougher, harder hitting Dobermann for Police and Military Service Work with the historic working qualities of the Dobermann breed of old, such as, Falk v. Rotbachtal, Fred v. d. Blutestadt Orsoy, Dixi v. Krakau, Palma v. Ellendonk, and Bingo v. Ellendonk.

Before Bingo, there was . . . Falk! Falk v. d. Rotbachtal that is.

In the late 1970's and throughout the 80's "THE WORKING DOG" was . . . Bingo vom Ellendonk!

Close linebreeding on the finest European police and working lines is the surest path to developing a bloodline that faithfully reproduces itself. Virtually all the lines chosen include Bingo vom Ellendonk, who is renoun for his hardness and prowess in high-level Schutzhund competition. Primarily it is Bingo (often in combination with Ali v. Langenhorst) and Bingo's most successful, proven offspring - especially from the from the 'A' litter of the 'von der Weyermuhle' (such as Asko, Amor & Anouk v. d. Weyermuhle), and 'C' litter of the 'von der Mooreiche' German Dobermann kennels (such as Caster, Cora & Cheska v. d. Mooreiche) and other prominate Bingo v. Ellendonk offspring, such as, Bonnie v. Nettatal, Nicolai v. Kloster Kamp, Askan v. Worringer Bruch, Bastian v. Goldschmeiding and Ilo v. Kirchbuhl. All have been carefully chosen to be included in 'von Asgard's' Dobermann breeding program.

Most prominate in the chosen list of Bingo grandchildren are from the combination of Gero v. d. Mooreiche and Kleo v. d. Mooreiche offspring that we have used or are planning to use include Dago v. Schwarzen Jager and Faro v. Schwellenberg.

"von Asgard" Working Dobermann Kennel has frozen semen from Bronco v. d. Doberwache so in the future "von Asgard" can tap into Bronco's tremendous genetic potential.

Adux v. d. Merkurek, the renown German Police K-9, and his sons also holds breeding interest for us in that Adux parents mirror those of Gero v. d. Mooreiche . . . both Adux' and Gero's fathers are of the 'A' litter (though different 'A' litter dogs) of the German 'v. d. Weyermuhle' Kennel and both of their mothers are of the 'C' litter (though different 'C' litter bitches) of the German 'v. d. Mooreche' Kennel. Our brood bitch, Asta v. d. Dragonerreiche, is a granddaughter of Anouk v. d. Merkurek, littermate to Adux v. d. Merkurek.

As with Gero v. d. Mooreiche, Adux v. d. Merkurek has proven his genetics by outstanding achievement on the competition field, or on the 'street' and through the accomplishments of his prodigy.

Linda Werlein founded an all-breed 'K-9 Man Stoppers' Training Group, as well as, the 'Confederate Canine Corps.', a Working Dobermann Training Group to promote training for the International KNPV & U.S. Police K-9 working tests/certifications available through Service Dog Association (www.KNPV-USA.com and www.PDK-9.com).
